Luke Jackson is a singer-songwriter from Canterbury, Kent, who way back in 2013 was nominated in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for both the Horizon Award for Best Emerging Talent and The Young Folk Category. He was also winner of Fatea’s Male Artist of the Year 2014 and 2016, his live album Solo:Duo:Trio was voted 2018 Album of the Year by Laurel Canyon, in 2020 his last studio release Journals was voted 2019 Album of the Year by Fatea Magazine. and as recent as 2021, Luke won EP of the Year award from Fatea for his lockdown recording Of The Time.

Over the past few years he has steadily developed a reputation for himself in the folk, roots, americana and acoustic circuits, through his solo, duo or trio shows, many festival appearances or when opening for such luminaries as Fairport Convention, Show of Hands, Steve Knightley, Martyn Joseph, Seth Lakeman, Karine Polwart, Oysterband, Paul Brady, Glen Tilbrook, Sarah Jarosz and John Paul White, formerly of the legendary Civil Wars.

In addition to the UK, Luke regularly tours across Europe and in 2016 and 2017 he visited the USA for the first time to play at the International Folk Alliance conference in Kansas and again in early 2019 when the conference was held in Ontario, Canada. This was where he met American singer-songwriter Rebecca Loebe who he went on to tour with as part of a double headline run of dates and co-wrote the song Lake Louise which was released on Rebecca Loebe’s 2019 album Give Up Your Ghosts.

Luke has also toured alongside Grammy Award winning songwriter Amy Wadge numerous times, the last being in 2019 and also with Folk Award winning duo Greg Russel and Ciaran Algar.

Between his debut album More Than Boys produced by the acclaimed Welsh singer-songwriter Martyn Joseph, which was released in 2012 through to his latest release in 2021, five records including a live album Solo, Duo, Trio were released and each album received high praise from folks like Maverick, Acoustic Magazine, Mike Harding and R2 Magazine, along with five-star reviews!

In the summer 2019 he played the Costa Del Folk Festival in Portugal, October marked his first full solo tour in the USA and his latest studio album Journals was released in November to great reviews, made Album of the Year by Fatea Magazine with R2 Magazine saying “Journals is an excellent album from a very special singer with a great repertoire, fully confirming his star potential beyond the folk scene”.

After going back to both Europe and the USA in early 2020 for another two successful tours, like many, many others, Luke’s career was ‘put on hold’ by the end of March with the advent of Covid-19. Luke kept himself busy and engaged with the musical community with a series of themed live stream shows and after a bit of a creative writing surge, released a seven track EP in early 2021 of songs written during lockdown called Of The Time. Initially a digital release, it is now available in CD format as well and garnered great reviews prompting Fatea magazine to say “Luke Jackson has gifted us with one of the most important and essential releases I’ve heard in quite some time” whilst At The Barrier journal noted “At a time when the gift of music is something to cherish, ‘Of The Time’ is an inspired offering”.

Now the world is slowly opening back up again, Luke was busy in the last half of 2021 and 2022 started with a prestigious support slot opening for Fairport Convention on their Winter Tour in February, as well as more solo UK, European and USA dates in the pipeline from spring 2022 onwards.
