Avoira and The Met
Avoira (formerly Pennine) are one of The Met’s longest-standing supporters. Their support began at Ramsbottom Festival in 2014, with Avoira becoming Gold members of The Met three years later. Since helping our building refurbishment during 2016 they have continued to contribute to the growth and development of the organisation.
The technology support supplied by Avoira for Head For The Hills has been mirrored at The Met. Public and private wi-fi networks, telephone systems and two-way radios have been installed. Our systems and events run smoothly with staff always connected, while our audiences get to lap up free wi-fi and share their experiences with their friends. Next time you’re tweeting, ‘gramming or adding a gig, show (or even cocktail) to your stories, remember to say cheers to Avoira.
We were able to say ‘Cheers’ in person to the team at Avoira during our Bury Beer Festival 2019. Avoira were again festival sponsors, and we learned the team share The Met’s enthusiasm for supporting our local independent breweries (!).
Looking Ahead…
We have many more collaborations coming in 2020, and are proud to announce Avoira as our official partner in our Learn to Play Day on the 28th of March 2020. Learn to Play Day is a nationwide event opening venues and music providers to the public, to encourage people to ‘have a go’ a new instrument with free lessons and sessions. 2020 will be the second year that The Met have taken part and will see us open our doors in the hope of inspiring our local community to discover a love of playing music.
Avoira have also kindly offered to sponsor some transport to take our Bury Youth Theatre group on a theatre trip. The group are embarking upon their first Arts Award project this year, enabling members to accredit the work that they do while attending and taking part in the group. A theatre trip is part of this accreditation, as well as being a great opportunity for the members to visit a major Manchester theatre to experience both the show and professional environment.
Over the past 6 years we have been proud to see our relationship with Avoira develop, and now consider them to be an integral part of our organisation. As we have grown, so has Avoira’s generoisity and willingness to support us, and we can’t thank them enough for their belief in The Met and what we do within our local community.
