After returning to the online world during the latest lockdown we are pleased to announce that Bury Youth Theatre is returning to its home at The Met in April.

We have continued to make special considerations to ensure that everyone is kept as safe as possible while attending sessions.

Last year, we split our group in two to make sure that we comply with the regulations on Bubbles. This structure will remain in place for this term. Our groups for this term will be:

  • Juniors (age 5-9). This group started off online in the Spring term and will be coming to the venue for the first time on Tuesday evenings.
  • Transitions (age 10-11). This group is geared towards young people who are currently in Year 6 and 7 at school. We know that many young people have missed out on the transition activities that they would normally take part in and we want to support anyone in this age group to make new friends, build skills and develop their confidence.
  • Seniors (age 12+). This is our long-standing Wednesday night youth theatre. Specialising in creating devised theatre, exploring improvisation, physical and vocal skills, scriptwriting and more, this group helps young people explore theatre skills in a safe and supportive environment.

We will be accepting new members for all our groups. Once we reach capacity, we will close, and new members will be placed on a waiting list. This is to ensure that we are keeping to our required delivery bubbles. If you find us and want to get involved after this, you will be placed on a waiting list for the next term.

We would like all members to pay in half termly blocks online using the link on this page.

We have a bright, shiny new risk assessment that outlines everything that we are doing to keep you and our staff safe in this new world. You can read it for yourself here. You are also welcome to request a copy of our Safeguarding policy by emailing steph.meskellbrocken@themet.org.uk.

New members for transitions and seniors, please get in touch with theyoungcompany@themet.org.uk before signing up, new members for juniors, please email steph.meskellbrocken@themet.org.uk.

BYT is a place where you can be yourself, surrounded by a group of likeminded friends.
