A co-founder of Flook and Lunasa, and a linchpin of Capercaillie’s line-up since 1998, Manchester-born flute/whistle and uilleann pipes maestro Michael McGoldrick has in recent years performed around the globe in ex-Dire Straits legend Mark Knopfler’s band – including a tour with both Knopfler and Bob Dylan. Despite this lengthy list of stellar collaborations, though – also including Youssou N’Dour, Zakir Hussain, John Cale and the Transatlantic Sessions – his true genius lies in his own trailblazing work as a player and composer, brilliantly showcased on his three solo albums to date. He is joined on stage by Dezi Donnelly (fiddle), John Joe Kelly (bodhran) & Jim Murray (guitar).
James Delarre and Saul Rose combine thrilling fiddle performances with some of the finest melodeon playing in a new duo harnessing all the subtleties of traditional music while producing an exciting and energetic display of musicianship. Together they produce flowing melodies, rich harmony and considered vocal delivery. The firm friends’ joy in playing music together is hypnotic, captivating and addictive.
Three times nominated in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and double winners of the Spiral Earth Awards Megson draw heavily on their Teesside heritage to create a truly unique brand of folk music.
The husband and wife duo bring an infectious mix of heavenly vocals, lush harmonies and driving rhythmic guitars. Comprising Debs Hanna (Vocals, Whistle, Piano Accordion) and Stu Hanna (Guitar, Mandola, Banjo) Megson have gained fame on the British folk scene, not only for their arresting & intelligent songwriting, but for their exquisite musicianship and northern humour.
