Kevin Montgomery and Jude Johnstone bring storytelling and laid-back California country to The Met.
Some nights are just meant for music that hits you right in the gut – music that carries history, heartache, and the raw honesty of the road. That’s exactly what’s coming to The Met when Nashville troubadour Kevin Montgomery and legendary songwriter Jude Johnstone take the stage for an intimate night of storytelling and laid-back California country.
Kevin Montgomery isn’t just another singer-songwriter – he’s got music in his DNA. His mother sang alongside Elvis Presley, and his father co-wrote “Heartbeat” for Buddy Holly. Montgomery himself penned “I Won’t Close My Eyes” for Martina McBride’s quadruple-platinum album Evolution and has spent years carving his own path through the Americana landscape. He’s logged miles most artists wouldn’t dare, completing four gruelling fifty States in fifty Days tours. Now, he’s on the brink of dropping his latest record, Good Thing, proving once again that the best songs come from those who’ve lived them.

Then there’s Jude Johnstone, a songwriter’s songwriter. Her work has been covered by Bonnie Raitt, Johnny Cash, Stevie Nicks, Trisha Yearwood, Emmylou Harris, and a laundry list of icons. She penned “The Woman Before Me”, which shot to No. 1 on Yearwood’s debut album, and wrote the title track for Johnny Cash’s Grammy-winning American II: Unchained. If Yearwood had a Jimmy Webb, Johnstone would be it.
This is the kind of show that doesn’t come around often – two artists with deep roots, impeccable craft, and the kind of lived-in voices that make you lean in and listen. Don’t miss your chance to catch them in a venue built for nights like this.
