Get A Round In brings together the best singer-songwriters for a Nashville style writers’ round.

This regular event at The Met features three artists sharing the stage to showcase their songwriting talent and tell the stories behind their music.

January’s event features…

Chris Tavener

Chris Tavener

Jangly-guitar rock and a biting sense of humour meet in the storytelling songs of Chris Tavener. A theatrical musician with an acerbic wit, Tavener writes his lyrics from the perspective of flawed characters that he draws from 21st century life.

His cynical social commentary, dressed in punchy, guitar-driven rock and acoustic ballads has won him acclaim from BBC 6 Music and multiple BBC Introducing stations. He’s popular for his unique and theatrical live performance that has seen him sharing the stage with Super Hans, Emily Capell, Tony Hadley and Peter Hook of Joy Division while also writing songs for the likes of Sir Ian McKellen.

His debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival came in 2024, with a one-man show entitled Chris Tavener is Faking Cool. Fifteen performances in August were met with a slew of four and five star reviews and a string of sold out shows. The success of the run led to an invitation to support folk songwriter Gaz Brookfield on tour, as well as rock ‘n’ roll legend, John Otway.

“An interesting lad with an elastic turn of phrase” Steve Lamacq, BBC 6 Music

“Nice set. Kinks-y vibes” Carl Barat, The Libertines

“The idiosyncratic but ever so loveable Chris Tavener. Try and see him live, he really creates an amazing atmosphere” Mark Radcliffe (BBC Radio 2)

Danny Bradley

Danny Bradley

Winner of the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, Danny Bradley is a folk musician and fingerstyle-guitarist who has toured the UK as the support act for Richard Thompson, and Fairport Convention. He has also opened for Martin Carthy, Tony McManus, and Jon Gomm. Born in the USA, but having grown up in the UK, Danny has been described by Americana UK as “less a one man band, and more a one man orchestra… A poetic soul, and a sublime vocal range, reminiscent of the late Jeff Buckley”. Danny’s debut album Small Talk Songs is available now.

Ben P Williams

Ben Williams

The evening will be presented by Manchester based singer-songwriter Ben P Williams, whose songs have seen support from BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Introducing. Moulding the classic song-writing sound of Paul Simon with the laid-back nature of Jack Johnson, Ben draws inspiration from the greats while injecting his own wit and imagination into lyrics and melodies which can’t help but bring a smile to your face.
