Music from Angela Usher and Dominic Kane.
Big Whistle 2019 kicks off with a Friday night pub session at our favourite local The Clarence. Angela Usher (Curagh/Toss The Feathers) is a legendary multi-instrumentalist, composer and teacher and will be joined by Dominic Kane, a guitarist from the upper echelons of the Manchester session scene. Expect an evening of Celtic Folk to the highest standard to start the festival. Even better, entry is free when you show your ticket for any other Big Whistle gig.
In-between her heavy teaching schedule, Angela still has time to develop her own musical career and this summer will see her teach and perform in New Zealand, Australia and Europe at a wide range of Celtic festivals.
The recent release of Angela’s debut solo banjo album ‘The Gort Mile’ displays her prowess as a composer and virtuosic musician. Broadcaster and folk musician Mike Harding exclaims “The Gort Mile is a rare and spirited collection from an outstanding musician and teacher. Cherish it.”
