Canadian trio the Good Lovelies join us in January for an evening of beautiful harmonies, while later in the month there’s classic blues from Paul Jones and Dave Kelly; February brings progressive rock from UK legends Gryphon, folk-rock from Merry Hell and The Magpie Arc, and the gospel sounds of Manchester Inspirational Voices; while in March we have the hilarious Lancashire Hotpots, and the beautiful sounds of Clannad singer Moya Brennan.

For someone who loves a singalong?

How about The Bohemians – a tribute to Queen on Friday 16 February? It’s an evening of music by a legendary band played as it should be. Or Jean Genie; an always-popular tribute to the music of David Bowie? Or 60s hitmakers The Manfreds visit in April with original singer Paul Jones and a truckload of classic songs.

So they think they’re funny?

Our regular First Thursday Comedy nights are almost always sell-out successes, so get tickets now if you want to send someone for a night of laughs. We’ve also got brilliant shows from Britain’s Got Talent winner Jon Courtenay, Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Emmanuel Sonubi and high-energy laugh-maker Patrick Monahan on sale now.  Or if someone really fancies themselves as a joker, why not sign them up for our Stand Up Comedy Workshop in March; it has to beat them reading out the Christmas cracker jokes.
