The Met, in partnership with the Royal Exchange Theatre are opening up a brand new programme to support and amplify Northern female-identifying voices to write.
Write what? Well that’s sort of up to you – stand up comedy, sketch, drama, monologue, audio drama, we want to help you get your ideas on paper and in front of an audience.
To tie in with the Royal Exchange’s March/April run of the Shelagh Delaney classic A Taste of Honey, we will be exploring the theme of ‘Mothers and Daughters’ through this project.
You don’t need to have writing experience to take part, just be 18+, identify as female and live in Bury, Bolton, Wigan, Rochdale or Oldham.
The project will run over eight sessions, fortnightly and will be based at The Met, starting on Tuesday 9 April with a group visit to see the show and with the first full session commencing on 16 April .
Sessions will then start on 16 April and run until 9 July. There will be an informal sharing of work at a date TBC.
We will be holding an information sharing Zoom session on Tuesday 19 March at 7pm to answer any questions you may have about the programme. To register for this session, please email education@themet.org.uk.
