The Enid are delighted to return to The Met for this seated concert featuring both the new, the familiar and a few surprises.

Following the massive success of their 2021 album ‘U’, and a string of incendiary livestream shows from their Bijou Theatre in Northampton, celebrated composer Robert John Godfrey makes a welcome return to the stage with The Enid.

Defining the music of The Enid is never easy. The Guardian described the band as “Pink Floyd meets The Orb meets the Berlin Philharmonic”. The BBC said, “The Enid is the only band on the planet to have successfully fused rock-based music with the power, dynamics, and scale of symphonic classical music”.

The band members

Jason Ducker – guitar, bass, keys and vocals: Now the de facto leader of the band, Jason became the band’s permanent guitarist in 2007 and has appeared on every album and live performance since 2002.

Karl Thompson – drums, perc, guitar and vocals: Like Jason, Karl grew up in Northamptonshire playing drums professionally from his early teens. His first involvement with The Enid was in 2017 leading to him becoming the band’s dedicated drummer in 2020.

Robert John Godfrey – keys and vocals: Robert is a pianist and composer whose interests include experimental theology, theoretical physics, Jung and the “Art of Melody”. Now retired, Robert founded The Enid in 1973 whilst signed to Charisma Records as a solo artist. His previous work with progressive music giants, Barclay James Harvest coupled with formal training as a concert pianist at the Royal College of Music set the scene for this charismatic maverick composer’s adult life.
