The Met is launching a brand-new artist development project – The Mini Met.

Running from October 2025 to March 2026, this programme will give emerging artists the chance to connect, experiment, and showcase their work in a supportive and public-facing way.

We’re kicking things off with an Introductory Launch Event during October half-term Wednesday 22 October at The Met. This will be an opportunity for creatives to find out more about the project, meet the team, and start the journey towards taking part in our pop-up events at Mill Gate Shopping Centre in early 2026.

Who is it for?

We’re looking for emerging creative practitioners aged 18+ who live in, work in, or have a strong connection to Bury. This includes:

  • Musicians
  • Dancers
  • Writers
  • Performers
  • Visual artists
  • Interdisciplinary creatives

What will the project involve?

  • A launch event in on October 22 introducing the programme.
  • Opportunities to apply to join our Mini Met Artist Pod.
  • Mentoring support from established artists.
  • The chance to showcase work through public-facing pop-up events at the Mill Gate.
  • Professional photo and video documentation to help promote your work.

Why get involved?

This is a low-barrier opportunity designed to support and platform emerging artists. You’ll have the chance to:

  • Experiment with new ideas in a supportive environment.
  • Engage with audiences in a high-footfall location.
  • Build lasting connections with other artists and with The Met.
  • Gain professional assets (photos, video) to help you develop your practice.

Dates to Note (subject to change):

  • October 2025 – Launch Event (22 Oct)
  • Nov–Dec 2025 – Artist selection, mentoring sessions, scheduling
  • Jan–Mar 2026 – Mini Met pop-up events at the Mill Gate
