Louisiana born singer/songwriter Mary Gauthier returns to The Met with songs from her forthcoming album Trouble and Love.

Gauthier (pronounced Go-shay) has received countless accolades over the last decade for her six studio albums, with her songs praised by both Bob Dylan and Tom Waits and recorded by Jimmy Buffet, Blake Shelton, Mike Farris, Candi Staton and others.

Given up at birth by a mother she never knew, Mary ran away from her adoptive home at age 15 and spent the next several years in detox, halfway houses, and living with friends; she spent her 18th birthday in jail. Later on, she enrolled at Louisiana State University as a philosophy major, but after five years dropped out due to drug problems and moved to Boston where she became a waitress. After attending Cambridge School of Culinary Arts she opened a Cajun restaurant, Dixie Kitchen (also the title of her first album).

She wrote her first song at age 35.
