Noise can be gentle, quiet, loud, lots of fun and full of feelings.
Dommy B shares a surprising story about growing up, finding a brilliant (but naughty) imaginary friend, becoming ‘Junk the Punk’ and joining a great school band (Whizzkid and the Veggie Burgers)!
There’ll be rhymes, jokes, and lots of opportunity to make some noise in a celebration of the power of sound and friendship.
Who is Dommy B?
An award-winning poet. He was 2017 Glastonbury Festival Poet in Residence, winner of the 2020 and 2017 Saboteur ‘Best Spoken Word Artist’ award, and has toured his verse across USA, Canada, India, New Zealand, Australia, South America and mainland Europe.
His other awards include winning New York’s Nuyorican Poetry Cafe Slam, UK Superheroes of Slam and, as of 2023, ten Arts Council England Grants for the Arts awards.
He has performed his poetry on BBC2 showcasing the best of 2017 Glastonbury Festival, BBC’s Greg and Celia’s Festivals Highlights (highlights of 2014’s Edinburgh Fringe) and Channel 4 News. Most famously, he introduced his pet ‘Dave the Dragon’ on CBeebies Rhyme Rocket.
He has nationally toured his self penned solo shows nationally and internationally, from 2014, 2018 and, through live-streaming, through 2020 until the present. These shows have beeen funded by Hamilton Project, Action Transport Theatre, Big Imaginations and Arts Council’s Grants for the Arts. Taken to Edinburgh Fringe, his children’s poetry show was voted by Fest as one of the Top 7 shows for families at Edinburgh Fringe.
Full of energy, jokes and action, these performances have enjoyed full capacity crowds from and have resulted in Manchester’s Flapjack Press publishing the tie-in book to accompany each story.
