TeamV Bury are hosting a Fusion Festival to celebrate inspiring migrants’ stories as part of the national Routes to Roots campaign.
Fusion Festival shares the journeys of migrants who have travelled across the globe to create new lives for themselves and their families, exploring the challenges they have faced and the contributions they have made to their new communities. Migrants are often accused of swarming the country and putting pressure on public services, however, since 2000 Britain’s migrants have made a net contribution of ?25bn to public finances.
The event will feature a short documentary, spoken word and poetry, an exhibition from Qaaf Aid children’s welfare charity and live fusion cooking with plenty of free samples to go around. Local patisserie Dynamic Desserts will also be providing fusion-style sweet treats and chocolate sculptures.
TeamV Bury is part of a national network of young volunteers aged 18-25 run by the youth charity vInspired.
Entrance to Fusion Festival is free but must be registered in advance online.
