Hilarious comedy at The Met on the First Thursday of every month.
Featuring Tony Burgess, Javier Jarquin, Seeta Wrightson, and Mick Ferry.
Tony Burgess has been making a living from this stand up comedy lark since his late teens. An obsessive writer from an early age, flab free gags are the hallmarks of Tony’s scintillating sets. Whether it’s musings on the Madchester days of yore or surreal takes on contemporary family life, surrender to the onslaught of laughter will be your only option! All gags and routines come in Tony’s trademark Mancunian jackdaw delivery.
“Great, well crafted gags” The Times
“Sharper than a Stanley knife” The Visitor
Javier Jarquin started out joking around at high school before cutting his teeth on the New Zealand circuit. Resident in the UK since 2010, the change of country has occasionally baffled this observational comedian.
“Boots doesn’t actually sell shoes whereas Office does!”
After winning the 2007 ‘So You Think You’re Funny’ competition in Christchurch Javoer performed at New Zealand and Melbourne’s biggest comedy clubs, on television and was a core member of New Zealand’s longest running comedy show: Scared Scriptless.
An extremely unique and adaptable performer, Javier has won numerous awards ranging from ‘Best Show Wellington’ at the 2010 New Zealand International Comedy Festival right up to ‘Best National Artist’ at the World Buskers Festival in 2012!
“Jarquin is seriously talented when it comes to working a crowd” The Stage
“High calibre throughout” Morning Star “Fresh, funny and unique” The Press (NZ)
Mick Ferry is, quite simply, the best MC working in the UK today. Whether he’s running with a scatterbrained idea, an audience suggestion or dipping into his extensive mental files of absolute, top drawer gags and routines, the end result is a barrage of laughter from a very happy audience and that is what we are all about.
“See him or regret it” John Bishop
Your middle act for the evening is Seeta Wrightson.
