This event has been rescheduled to Friday 4 June 2021
In September 2019, Catrin Finch and Seckou Keita travelled to Prince Edward Island on the maritime east coast of Canada to meet and collaborate with Vishtèn, a powerhouse multi-instrumental trio and flagbearers for their unique Acadian musical tradition throughout the world. In 2020, that collaboration comes to the UK in a one-off tour that features sets by both artists plus a very special set featuring new material by Catrin, Seckou and Vishtèn together.
Vishtèn features twin sisters Emmanuelle and Pastelle LeBlanc, from Prince Edward Island, and Pascal Miousse – a direct descendant of the first colonial families to inhabit Quebec’s remote Magdalene Islands. Tight harmonies, layered foot percussion and a compelling trademark blend of fiddle, guitar, accordion, whistles, piano, bodhrán and jaw harp create an expansive sound that triumphantly defies the parameters of this trio whose artistry looks forward as much as it looks back.
The multi-award winning duo, Welsh harpist Catrin Finch and Senegalese kora maestro Seckou Keita have built a formidable global reputation since their partnership began in 2013. They delivered a triumphant second album with SOAR in 2018, charting inspirational common ground between seemingly disparate traditions and their intoxicating, often improvised synergy captures a magical meeting of minds and talents within a borderless musical landscape.
