Brendan teaches songs in what he calls “the American vernacular”: early gospel, shape note, bluegrass, Appalachian, his own compositions and Zimbabwean makwayera. He is also an accomplished singer, songwriter, Irish fiddle player and guitarist. His workshops are a delight and great fun. All songs are taught by ear; no experience required.
“I love these songs for their compelling rhythms, evocative harmonies, and themes that speak to everyday life. They are songs that come from participatory, community-based traditions: songs that draw people together around the world.”
