Sergeant turned stand-up Alfie Moore has seen it all, he’s investigated everything from milk bottle thefts to murders.
A truly charismatic raconteur, Alfie’s thrilling insight into life at the front-line of the police force will not only alter your perspective on the ‘boys in blue’, but is guaranteed to have you in fits of laughter! With an irrepressible nature for storytelling and an everyman likeability, Alfie is the bobby on the beat you never had.
In 2011, after eighteen years at the Humberside Police and numerous performances on the stand-up circuit, Alfie intended to take his show (with the prophetic title I Predict A Riot) up to the Edinburgh Festival. However August 2011 saw some of the greatest public disturbances of recent years, when violent riots broke out across England’s largest cities. Under the circumstances Alfie could no longer take the time off work and so the show didn’t make it to Scotland. I Predicted a Riot finally landed at the Fringe in 2012 and was a smash-hit success.
Revealing everything from the mundane to the macabre, Alfie recounts the continually bizarre but always humorous experiences of a modern copper; be it the time he encountered a severed head, but by law was not allowed to pronounce it dead, or the nonsensical realities of working in a squad tied up and hen pecked by bureaucracy.
I Predicted a Riot will shock, enlighten and entertain!
“My favourite (Edinburgh Festival show) was Alfie Moore’s brilliantly funny show about policing. It’s genuinely funny and it’s about something. Do catch it!”
