Regular visitors to The Met will have spotted some new silverware on the mantelpiece recently, with two more awards collected by the venue during November.

The Met is once again Cultural Venue Of The Year for Greater Manchester, as awarded by the This Is Manchester Awards 2019.

We love being recognised for the impact that The Met has for music lovers across Greater Manchester, and to be awarded alongside some of the city regions’ biggest and best-known events, venues and businesses is a real honour for our venue and the town.

The glitzy awards ceremony was held at The Hilton on Deansgate for the 2nd year running, and we were delighted that we retained the title Cultural Venue Of The Year that we first claimed in 2018. Unfortunately, the team weren’t able to attend to collect our award in person (the perils of a small team who work hard, and often at night!) – so we’ll have to go for the hat-trick next year.

It was also great to receive some further local recognition with the ‘Creative Award’ at this year’s Made In Bury Business Awards, held at The Longfield Suite in Prestwich recently. As we celebrate 40 years of The Met in our Market Street home it was brilliant to see and hear from so many people at the awards who visit, support and enjoy what we bring to Bury.

We hope these awards help remind people to keep visiting, using and supporting everything that happens at The Met. Our thanks go to the judges, and of course, our funders Bury Council and Arts Council England, as well as all our corporate supporters and individual donors. And of course, we thank everyone who shows up for events and helps us spread the word about the great nights we have in Bury. Next time you call into a show, or a workshop, or to pick up a ticket, we hope our award-packed fireplace gives you another reason to be proud of the town.
