Julie’s Bicycle and their Capital Readiness Programme
We’re currently working with Julie’s Bicycle on their Capital Readiness Programme in order to gain funds to further support our environmental sustainability aims.
We’re approaching sustainability with the same creativity and dedication we bring to our artistic programming.
Our key commitments include:
- Improving energy efficiency throughout our historic building
- Work with Bury Council to secure renewable energy
- Reducing our consumption of resources across all operations
- Approach waste disposal with the following ethos: prevent, reuse, recycle, recover, dispose
- Tracking our environmental impact through annual reporting
- Encouraging sustainable transportation for staff, volunteers, and visitors
- Setting reduction targets for our consumption and waste

Some Things We Have Achieved So Far
We’ve installed solar panels on our roof, decreased energy usage, and more.
Our Historic Building
The Met is housed in Derby Hall, a Grade II listed building constructed in the 1840s.
Our Sustainable Activities Plan
In 2023, we developed a comprehensive Sustainability Action Plan guided by the Theatre Green Book’s standards.
