“The best singer in England” Eddi Reader
Chris While has earned herself the reputation of being one of the finest singers to come out of these islands.
She has toured tirelessly over the last thirty-five years. Originally a soloist, she rose to the attention of the folk/roots world in 1991 equipped with an arsenal of original songs and her stunning vocals. She recorded her first three albums in quick succession: Still on Fire in 1991; By Request in 1992; and Look at Me Now in 1993.
In 1994 she started touring with The Albion Band as lead singer alongside Fairport Convention’s Simon Nicol and Ashley Hutchings.
Chris went on to record two more solo albums: In The Big Room in 1996; and the critically acclaimed Rosella Red in 2007. She is now writing for the very much anticipated next one.
More recently Chris has been recording and touring with Julie Matthews and together they have accrued thirteen studio albums and two live albums. They have been nominated ten times in the BBC Folk Awards, winning best duo in 2009.
Chris is now ready to do some solo work again, bringing once more to the stage her very personal songs, her warm personality and of course her heart stopping voice.
She will be joined by stunning guitarist Johnny Heyes who has worked with Chris and Julie on their last three albums. Johnny is a revered teacher at the Royal Northern College of music with an impressive pedigree which includes playing with legendary artists such as Mica Paris and Tito Jackson.
