Hilarious comedy at The Met on the First Thursday of every month.
Featuring Daliso Chaponda, Markus Birdman, Molly McGuinness and MC Stephen Bailey.
From Malawi to Britain via Canada, former refugee Daliso Chaponda has appeared on everything from QI to Britain’s Got Talent, from the Royal Variety Performance to his own, critically acclaimed Radio 4 series. A bold, fearless and energetic performer who very nearly became a vicar, but that’s a different story for another time…
“Had the audience in stitches” The Sun
“An expert entertainer” The Guardian
Markus Birdman’s dad is a real life vicar and his uncle is a bishop. Neither of these facts have any bearing on his comedy whatsoever but we have been booking him for years and he smashes it every single time.
“Made me laugh so hard it hurt” BBC
Your host for the evening is Stephen Bailey, (Live at the Apollo, Celebrity Mastermind etc). A proud Northern, working class, gay man. Best known as a TV presenter it’s the arena of live, stand up comedy where Stephen really shines. Gossipy, bitchy, close to the bone even, but with such an infectious sense of fun everyone gets the joke and no one is left behind.
“Natural talent” Metro
“Rising star” The Sun
Manchester’s Molly McGuinness (“Brilliantly dry and very funny.” Joe Lycett) takes the middle spot.
First Thursday Comedy at The Met is booked by Comedy In A Van.
