1838, 1878, 2001… In the last two centuries, Britain has been involved in three brutal wars in Afghanistan.
In this new blacker-than-black comedy, Monkey Poet (aka stand-up rhymster Matt Panesh) jumps back in time to the 1830s and our first and most disastrous Afghan war. Drawing on actual eye witness testimony, he weaves a vivid tale of cynical politicians, bumbling generals and weary squaddies.
Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
Performed in a double bill with Monkey Poet’s Welcome to the UK!, a hilarious look at modern Britain.
