The Big Whistle Festival returns for its 12th year: 11 & 12 May 2019
The Big Whistle Festival is a weekend of gigs, lessons and sessions featuring some of the biggest names in celtic-inspired folk music. And as the name suggests, there’s one simple instrument these events have in common: the humble tin whistle.
The whistle is a simple instrument, but its popularity keeps growing. Each year the Big Whistle Festival brings together virtuoso musicians to push the boundaries of what the whistle can do, as part of some of the most exciting live Folk bands around.
Working with Big Whistle Music, The Met is proud to host big gigs, intimate workshops and vibrant sessions for the 12th year here in Bury. Over the years we’ve built a friendly and loyal community of festival-goers who return each year from across the UK and Europe.
This year’s festival is one of the biggest yet, with two days packed with events, and even a taster gig for ticket holders in our favourite local pub on the Friday night. Inspired by years of talking to our audiences, this year’s Big Whistle Festival is a brilliant blend of big names, new talent and opportunities to meet, play and learn for folk fans of all ages and abilities.
We look forward to meeting you all again at Big Whistle Festival 2019. You can choose to join us for just one of our big gigs, like Flook or The Peatbog Faeries, or make a weekend of it and save 20% when you book for 3 or more events.
