Jane Black lives in Prestwich, and has served as a Bury Councillor for nine years. including for a year as Mayor and as Cabinet Member for Culture.
She joined The Met’s board in 2020
Her career has included working for voluntary sector charities, in adult and higher education and as a local government manager in three Greater Manchester Councils. Now retired, she is involved in a variety of charitable activities.
Jane says “I’ve been coming to the Met since my children were small, and I love the way it has developed over the years. It has become a vibrant hub for arts and culture in the centre of town, committed to engaging new and diverse audiences. Artistic and cultural activities are huge enjoyable for so many people, and also contribute to local employment and economic growth.”
