It’s 4am and The Union’s resident drag act Gloria Strokum is off her trolley. She’s sat by the canal talking to hallucination Cilla Black when she finds a dead body floating in the water. What follows is four stories from those who worked and drank at the Union pub, which culminate to answer who it is the canal and ask questions about community today.
“Passionate, lyrical and angry.”
– 24:7 Theatre Festival
“Good black comedy with a smattering of great one-liners.”
– The Public Reviews
“A play that could stand the test of time. Union is real, it’s gritty, it’s unapologetic, and it’s definitely a play to catch if you find yourself suddenly North.”
– SoSoGay
Written and Directed by Joshua Val Martin and starring Manchester’s Belinda Scandal. Presented by Bury Council LGBT Employee Group.
