The Battlefield Band have enjoyed success for over thirty years making music across many continents. Putting their musical achievements to one side their list of former members reads like a who’s who of traditional music.

It is quoted that they play Scottish Music of a rare passion and joy. In truth they have sustained a remarkable character to their music, hallmarked with a true Battlefield sound.

Jimmy Docherty is a popular and successful singer/songwriter. He peers with top line musicians, including Michael McGoldrick and also played with Ronan Keating for two years.

To add to the range of unique collaborations at The Big Whistle Weekend, Jimmy has agreed to perform songs from his new album Velvet Tinkers, accompanied by Mat Walklate (whistles/flute/pipes/harmonica).
