“Texas powerhouse” Rolling Stone

ACM-nominated recording artist Sunny Sweeney has long been known for her uncanny ability to straddle the line of demarcation between Texas country and Nashville americana. Her latest album, Married Alone (Thirty Tigers) was top 10 in the americana charts for twenty-four weeks straight. Produced by Paul Cauthen and Beau Bedford, Married Alone is Sweeney’s finest work yet, bringing together confessional songwriting, image-rich narratives, and no shortage of sonic surprises for a loosely conceptual album about loss and healing.

Sweeney debuted in 2006 with the acclaimed Heartbreaker’s Hall of Fame, which announced her as an important new voice in songwriting. 2011’s Concrete led to a Top Female Artist nomination at the 2013 ACM Awards. Sweeney continued to expand upon the traditional-leaning, forward-thinking sound of her earlier work with 2014’s Provoked and 2017’s Trophy, both of which earned Sweeney rave reviews across roots communities.

Sunny Sweeney’s confessional songwriting is best enjoyed live, with some of her festival highlights so far including main stages performances at Latitude (UK), The Long Road (UK), Milport Country Music Festival (UK), The Country Rock Festival (ES), Country Festivalen Vinstra (NO), Seljord Country Festivalen (NO), Scandinavian Country Music Festival (SE), Country Gold (JP).

“A country music fireball who mixes up a Tennessee songwriting suss with a Texas taste for trouble…” Holler

Reviews

“As they left the stage, it took us all a moment to move, perhaps processing what a truly special night we had just experienced; every bit worth the seventeen year wait.”

FATEA (On 2023 UK Tour)

“She is deliciously mischievous, really funny and delivers flawless, full-on country from a five-star song catalogue.”

Celtic Music Radio

“one of Sweeney’s greatest strengths as an artist; her songs feel familiar and lived-in without feeling clichéd.”
