A Swamp-tastic Summer Adventure Awaits!

This July, the award winning All Saints Elton Theatre Youth brings the hilarious, heart-warming, and slightly swampy adventure of Shrek The Musical JR. to the stage at The Met.

​Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and the smash hit Broadway musical, Shrek JR. is a one of a kind fairy tale where the monsters get the girls, donkeys find love, and princesses are beautiful in all shapes and sizes. Beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre in this irreverent fractured fairy tale.

When the vertically challenged Lord Farquaad banishes a gang of homeless fairytale misfits to Shrek’s peaceful swamp, our unlikely hero sets off on a life changing journey to reclaim his home. Alongside a wisecracking donkey and a feisty Princess Fiona, Shrek discovers that true friendship and self acceptance are the real “happily ever after.”

​This high energy production features a score of catchy songs, including the classic smash hit “I’m a Believer” and is packed with laughter and dazzling dance numbers that carry a powerful message for the whole family.

​About All Saints Elton Theatre Youth

​Launched in 2022 as an extension of the historic All Saints Elton Theatre Company, a cornerstone of local drama since 1912, All Saints Elton Theatre Youth has quickly become a powerhouse of local talent. Following in the prestigious footsteps of the senior company’s 19 NODA nominations, the Youth Theatre is already celebrating its own award winning success following the acclaim of their previous productions, most recently Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr, and Alice.

​The group provides a professional platform for young performers aged 6 to 16 to develop their skills in acting, singing, and dance within a supportive, creative environment. As a dedicated cultural hub for the next generation of performers in Elton and Bury, the company is proud to bring youth theatre to the local community.
