Seth Lakeman takes the established folk orthodoxy and turns it on its head. The spirit of the rock band meets the timeless and heartfelt subject matter of the folk tale in a blur of fiddle, acoustic guitar and foot-stomping rhythms, with Seth’s unmistakable vocals riding the wave. Seth has released six albums including 2005’s Mercury nominated Kitty Jay and his latest album, Tales from the Barrel House, he has performed everywhere from Libya to Texas, as well as featuring on just about every major festival bill across the UK.
“An uncommonly fine singer and multi-instrumentalist”
(fRoots)Gavin Davenport is a stalwart of the English folk scene and member of the newly invigorated Albion Band. One of the foremost interpreters of English traditional song and a powerful and engaging writer of new material, his most recent solo record The Bone Orchard, recorded here at The Met’s own Edwin Street Studios, has received huge critical acclaim and established him firmly as an artist to watch out for. Gavin is accompanied by band mates Tom Kitching (Pilgrim’s Way) Tim Yates (The Albion Band), and Nick Cooke (Jim Moray/Mawkin).
“Interesting, innovative and humane. Davenport keeps moving forward and remains an artist well worth investigating.”
