George Ormiston George hails from West Calder, Nr. Edinburgh. After serving his time as an engineer George decided to take up flute making full time in 1978. Initially his making career blossomed in West Berlin. Like most makers however, he enjoyed a healthy professional musical career too – most notably playing with Iona. He has been based in Scotland now for many years. However, 2009 is an appropriate time to invite George to The Big Whistle Weekend, as he has recently developed a Blackwood & Silver High D Whistle with other models in the pipeline!

Colin Goldie lives in Germany and produces his in demand aluminium whistles for an ever growing world market. A number of our musical guests booked across The Big Whistle Weekend play on Colin’s handmade instruments. Colin is a highly skilled and creative maker having produced many innovative developments – including his seven and eight hole modal whistles.
