If you were asked to name the most influential folk music families on the two sides of the Atlantic, the names Carthy and Seeger would not be far from your mind.

For many years, Martin Carthy has been at the forefront of the folk scene on this side of the Atlantic alongside wife, Norma Waterson, and daughter, Eliza Carthy. He was named Folk Singer of the Year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2002, and again in 2005 when he also won the award for Best Traditional Track for ‘Famous Flower of Serving Men’.

Across the water, daughter to avant-garde composer Ruth Crawford Seeger, Peggy Seeger and her relatives Pete Seeger and Mike Seeger have blazed a similar folk path in the US but she is often remembered on this side of the water for her marriage to Lancastrian folk musician, Ewan MacColl. He wrote ‘First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ for her and they had three children.

This is a very rare opportunity to capture these two iconic artists playing solo and together.
