Four singers and multiinstrumentalists, Le Vent du Nord (The North Wind) are at the vanguard of the Canadian music of Quebec.

In 2005 they were named North American Trad Artist of the Year, they have twice won Best Canadian Folk Album, and last year they won Ensemble of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards.

With fiddle, guitar, accordion, bass/hurdygurdy and vocal, they sing both original songs and those taken from the traditional repertoire in their native French.

Le Vent du Nord’s music is both fresh and bound to tradition, but perhaps their greatest strength is an unmistakable stage presence: energetic, dynamic and generous, in touch with their audience and sure to delight them.

“Le Vent du Nord are one of the hippest exponents of Quebecois music. The quartet coaxed the crowd on to their feet. The Scotsman
