Kirsty Almeida draws you into her enchanting, uplifting and at times devilishly dark world. Classic songwriting with a wondrous mix of murder lullabies, blues-folk beauty, New Orleans soul, voodoo-tinged-pop and a healthy does of Tim Burton-style brooding.
This songbird has collaborated with the likes of Youth, Mr Scruff and The Guy Barker Orchestra, as well as writing and recording music for the films Pategonia and Albatross. She was recently been commissioned to create a new work in association with The Manchester Art Gallery for the Manchester Weekender based on paper and curated the Laughing Garden for the 2012 Bury Light Night.
Backed by her fabulous band, Kirsty has been winning rave reviews for performances at festivals such as Glastonbury, V Festival, Big Chill, Lovebox and Secret Garden Party.
“Class and a rather delicious sultriness ooze from Kirsty’s warm tones. She shows such a light touch with her melodies and intelligent lyrics that you almost don’t realise how freakin’ brilliant she is. Like Norah Jones with a naughty twinkle, this is blissful stuff.”
– Star Magazine
“An artist who has to be seen live to be appreciated… it’s on stage, with her band in full bawdy flow that she flourishes.”
– The Guardian
