Montgomery himself penned “I Won’t Close My Eyes” for Martina McBride’s quadruple-platinum album Evolution and has spent years carving his own path through the Americana landscape. He’s logged miles most artists wouldn’t dare, completing four gruelling fifty States in fifty Days tours. She penned “The Woman Before Me”, which shot to No. 1 on Yearwood’s debut album, and wrote the title track for Johnny Cash’s Grammy-winning American II: Unchained.
