Songs and stories of togetherness, positivity, strength and kindness guaranteed to improve your day.

In a world that can appear to be trapped in a loop of controversy and despair, the award-winning modern folk song and storytelling trio Harp and a Monkey have a new show aimed at reminding us of all the wonderful things that bring light, positivity and joy to an average day.

The local outfit have built their 90-minute ‘pick me up’ (two 45-minute sets with interval) from traditional and original songs that focus on simple pleasures – from trips to the seaside to acts of kindness, the delights of birdsong and gardening to the joys of childhood and parenting. It’s a show guaranteed to put a smile on the face and a spring in your step.

Armed with a rich array of instruments (harp, banjo, guitar, glockenspiel, accordion and more), these wonderful musicians and raconteurs have been delighting audiences for close to two decades.

Whether you are a folk music aficionado or just looking for an afternoon of laughter, great music, and uplifting stories, this show is going to improve your day and deposit a bit of much needed credit into the account labelled ‘The sum of human happiness’.
