Hilarious comedy at The Met on the First Thursday of every month.
June’s event features: Glenn Wool (“Effortlessly funny” Guardian); Darren Harriott (★★★★ Sunday Times ★★★★ Evening Standard); Harry Jenkins; and MC Susan Murray (★★★★ Beyond The Joke).
Vancouver’s Glenn Wool reached these shores in the mid-nineties and, much to the disdain of lesser comedians, it looks like he’s here to stay. When not at home in his adopted Essex, Wool consistently sells out shows at the world’s biggest comedy festivals and has appeared on numerous TV shows. Topical, engaging, opinionated but never preachy and, of course, downright hysterically funny, Glenn is a surefire hit in front of any audience.
“Why aren’t you in a queue somewhere buying a ticket?” Scotsman; “Effortlessly funny” Guardian; “Absolutely hilarious” Independent
Darren Harriott is a critically acclaimed stand-up comedian, presenter, fitness freak, boxing aficionado and fashionista from Birmingham. The former gang member was drawn into the murky world of stand up comedy after visiting an open mic night. Basing himself in London, Darren worked as a security guard at the Hammersmith Apollo. A venue he now regularly performs at. 2017 saw him nominated for ‘Best Newcomer’ at the Edinburgh Fringe and, two years later, he became the first Black British male to be nominated for ‘Best Show’.
Darren hosts a weekly Sunday show on BBC West Midlands, has had several Radio 4 series and pops up on everything from Dancing On Ice to The Last Leg, Celebrity Mastermind to Love Island: Aftersun.
“Many contradictions with primetime warmth. Watch him.” ★★★★ Sunday Times; “Passionate, articulate, witty” ★★★★ Evening Standard; “Properly funny” ★★★★ The Times; ★★★★ Scotsman; ★★★★ Short Com; ★★★★ Edfest Mag.
Susan Murray is a seasoned regular on the comedy circuit and has swiftly emerged as one of the best female stand-ups in the UK. With her endless wit and whip-smart humour, you will be rolling on the floor with laughter thanks to Susan’s unique comedy talents.
“Compelling believable and richly funny” The Guardian; ★★★★ Beyond The Joke; ★★★★ One4Review
Your evening comes complete with Birmingham’s Harry Jenkins.
Please note that previously advertised comedian Joey Page will no longer be appearing.
