An unhappy marriage, a school shooting and an abandoned child, Fewer Emergencies by Martin Crimp, is a thought provoking take on modern British life.
In these three short plays Martin Crimp draws back the curtain on a stark and sinister world. In the first we are introduced to a woman who knows her marriage is a mistake but stays, living a public lie whilst inflicting damage and violence behind closed doors. In the second a Dunblane type massacre has occurred with Crimp attempting to unlock the mind of a murderer and in the third the couple’s abandoned child from the first piece appears, trapped in his own personal horror story.
Although often seen on the stages of many European capitals, Martin Crimp’s work is rarely performed in the UK. For the first time, Proper Job Theatre Company are bringing this dramatic tour de force to theatres across the North of England. With a company of actors specifically trained in physical performance Proper Job are bringing a unique and original physical dimension to this piece.
‘Vicious modern fairy tales…that bring the nightmare right back home and stab you through the soul.’
