Vaudeville-styled bohemian singer Duke Special (aka Peter Wilson) cuts a striking figure on stage, often performing alone with only his piano and old squeaky gramophone for accompaniment.
Those who know him for the platinum-selling album Songs From The Deep Forest and hit song Freewheel may be surprised by the breadth of his work. His career so far has seen him taking on projects as diverse as writing the theme tune for the Irish Sesame Street to writing for and appearing in Deborah Warner’s critically acclaimed 2009 production of Bertolt Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children at London’s National Theatre.
Duke is currently finishing off his next studio album Look Out Machines due for release in 2015.
“Its impossible to fault Duke Special”
– Evening Standard
“The Duke’s honeyed tones are perfect for these honest, passionate songs about love and loss.”
– The Independent
She Makes War is the alt-pop creation of Bristol based multi-instrumentalist and filmmaker Laura Kidd. She creates breathtakingly honest music with a mixture of grungy electric guitar, vocal loops, ukelele, marching drum and foot percussion.
