Ducie is an exciting new group with a unique musical approach in which both fiddle and guitar play the tune together, propelled along with great energy and style by Afro-Cuban percussion and double bass.
Following on from their 2011 Future Trad Collective CD (alongside Michael McGoldrick), Andy Dinan and Ian Fletcher teamed up to make an album that brings together their many musical influences. With the arrival of Richard Sliwa(Doves, The Charlatans and De Danann) and Jon Thorne(Lamb,Trilok Gurtu), who effectively pioneered the use of double bass in electronic music, Andy and Ian’s contemporary take on old traditional tunes sits alongside new compositions and improvisations that flow over uplifting rhythms.
Ducie are supported by The Hayes Sisters, playing three-part family harmonies.
