Come with us to the cotton mills of Coketown in 1840, to the heart of the industrial north west in the darkest days of the Industrial Revolution. Where poverty is always knocking on the weavers’ door while their boss lives in a mansion on the hill. Where in Thomas Gradgrind’s School for Boys and Girls the harsh philosophy of Facts and nothing but Facts rules the day.

But where, amongst the smoking chimneys and the crashing looms, is imagination to be found? And where is there room for love?

Paper Zoo recreate Dicken’s classic tale with their trademark blend of humour and visual inventiveness.
