Calan bring together the remarkable talents of five young musicians, giving a fresh and vibrant sound to traditional Welsh music. Renowned for a contemporary and lively approach, they breathe new life into the old traditions through their sparkling melodies, foot tapping tunes which often includes spirited and energetic performances of Welsh step dancing.

The band initially started its musical career busking on the streets of Cardiff to help cover University fees. This early time together focussed their musicality and the sound and musical direction soon became homogenised. Tours across Europe and North America ensued with 2015 seeing them play The Royal Albert Hall alongside Bryn Terfel and Sting.

The band has boundless energy and continues to take Welsh traditional music, played with verve and creativity to an eager global audience.
