Calling all North West primary schools – start your Ten Pieces journey with us this November.
Ten Pieces is an exciting new initiative for primary schools, led by BBC Learning and the BBC Performing Groups, focusing on classical music and creativity.
Starting in the autumn term 2014 with a week of free cinema screenings for schools across the country, the project will culminate in a major celebratory finale in the summer of 2015.
Five BBC Orchestras and the BBC Singers are involved, as well as celebrities such as Barney Harwood from Blue Peter. There will be pan-BBC coverage of the initiative, from Children’s to Radio 3.
Stakeholder Partners include the Arts Council England, Arts Council Wales, Arts Council Northern Ireland, Creative Scotland, Music Mark, Youth Music, ABO and Into Film.
The Met is a Ten Pieces champion. You can bring your school to watch the Ten Pieces film in our theatre on a date of your choice and we can then help you to incorporate the programme into your students learning.
There will be an exciting choice of arts packages on offer that professional artists and musicians can deliver either in your school or at The Met, for students and staff alike. There will be an option to work towards a nationally recognised Arts Award qualification and your school can take part in a sharing event at The Met in the summer term. Your school may even be chosen by the BBC to showcase your work at a national event.
If you are interested in booking a free film viewing, or to hear more about how we might be able to work with you on this exciting project, please contact catherine.collins@themet.biz
