Legendary broadcaster, performer, life-long folk music fan and presenter of BBC Radio 2’s The Folk Show, Mark Radcliffe leads a panel of folk experts – editor of fRootsIan Anderson, Fay Hield, Olivia Chaney and Chris Wood – discussing recent developments in English folk, roots and acoustic music, followed by performances from Chris Wood and Olivia Chaney.
Chris Wood is an uncompromising writer whose music reveals his love for the un-official history of the English speaking people.
With gentle intelligence he weaves the tradition with his own contemporary parables. His writing has been said to share the same timeless quality as Richard Thompson at his best.
Olivia Chaney studied voice and keyboard at Chetham’s, the Royal Academy of Music and then taught herself guitar and harmonium. She has since created her own sound as a song-writer and multi-faceted performer. Hailed by leading names in the worlds of experimental, folk, pop and early music she is in increasing demand, being described as; “A major talent”
(BBC Music Review), “Completely dizzying”
(LA Weekly) and “A star in the making”
(The Independent).
