‘But technically it’s all down to love…love makes you blind to anything, know what I mean…’
And Then You Kissed Me explores the way in which sexual chemistry and an innate need for love and care within all of us can become toxic. The relationship experiences of several characters are interwoven to illustrate how one choice can define a person for many years.
‘The only thing we can leave our kids is happy memories.
I think I was abusive since the age of 3. I was quite a hard child to deal with, very , very unruly.
Is it nature is it nurture, that’s the big question.’
The material is based on verbatim stories from all rungs of the social ladder to provide the audience with an impactful and wide-ranging insight into Domestic Abuse.
‘We had a play fight, we were messing about…I could see the aggression in his face but he was laughing when he was doing it, he was almost like the joker from Batman. It was this weird, demonic look and his face would change…and he leaned over and he bit me on the leg and he bit me so hard that he drew blood’
The exciting dynamics on stage will open your eyes to leave you questioning your past and present.
And Then You Kissed Me completes a trilogy of hard-hitting plays from award-winning company Footlights, which includes Just A Few Quid (MediaCityUK, 2012) and The Queen Is Dead (The Lowry Studio, 2014).
