On Monday 28th April, we were proud and excited to welcome young people from Holy Trinity Primary School who have been working with us to deliver the Met EXperts project. This programme enabled members of our Met Express Learning Disability Theatre Company to undertake training in facilitation and act as peer mentors to SEND children from the school in the process of creating their first piece of original drama. Under the leadership of long-time Met Facilitator Mark Hill, the children learnt new skills in drama and created a brand-new piece of theatre from scratch, using their own stories and ideas.

The group premiered the piece at The Met to an audience of 30 friends and family with professional lighting, sound and projections to help bring their work to life.

We want to give a huge thanks to Holy Trinity Primary School, Mark Hill, our peer mentors Verity and Andrea and the group themselves. We also want to thank the Baily Thomas Foundation who funded the project.

We are keen to run this project again and are actively looking for other Primary Schools who might be interested in working with us on a similar model. If this is something you would like to explore with your school, please get in touch with us on education@themet.org.uk
