Since February 2025, The Met have been working in partnership with Chesham Primary Academy to deliver the Get Lyrical project. Developed as a way of fostering and supporting cohesion between young people of different backgrounds through music and lyrics and focused specifically on the experiences of girls, the project is now halfway through and yielding some great results.

Lead facilitator on the project is Eve Piper (also known as Vispera) who has been leading the group of Year 5 girls through a range of different activities to express their thoughts and feelings through words. Of the project, she has said:

The Get Lyrical project has been an absolute joy so far, the girls from Bury have bountiful ideas and are working together beautifully – exploring the ranges of their voices and imaginations in a collaborative way. I’m very much looking forward to getting their songs recorded!

The project will conclude in May with a recording session at The Met’s Recording Studio where the girls will have the chance to have their work recorded, mixed and mastered, ready to be shared with the world. We can’t wait to hear the results.

This project is taking place thanks to the support of Bury Council’s ‘Let’s Do It’ fund, supporting community cohesion.
