On Thursday 18th April, we were thrilled to host our first LOUD Cabaret, a brand new monthly queer event showcasing the most fabulous rising stars from across Bury and beyond!
Our first event featured an array of fantastic LGBTQ+ talent including Hunter Millington, AJ Leroy, Minute Taker and Nathaniel J Hall.
Transgender performance maker, creative producer and drag king, Hunter Millington presented their work in progress show ‘A Northern Tranny Hootenanny’. The hilarious and moving piece tells the story of Hunter’s transition through an uplifting jukebox musical set in the Wild, Wild, (North) West.
Manchester based vocalist, musician, songwriter and poet AJ LeRoy presented a performance exploring the music of iconic artists that have shaped his identity and connection to his authentic self as both an artist and a person. The set featured covers of iconic artists Kate Bush, Nina Simone and more plus spoken word interludes.
Queer artist Minute Taker closed out the show with nostalgia-fuelled synthpop and haunting, ethereal vocals. The singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist performed a selection of otherworldly songs from his most recent 80s-inspired album Wolf Hours and beyond.
We can’t wait for our next LOUD Cabaret on 16th May featuring Holly Redford-Jones, Venn Smyth, and Evie D’Luca plus our returning host, writer, actor and activist Nathaniel J Hall!
Supported by The Greater Manchester LGBTQ+ Network, LGBTQI+ Forum Bury, and Dibby Theatre.
