We have come to the decision that we will no longer be posting on X (formerly Twitter) across any of our channels (The Met / Head for The Hills / Bury Beer Festival). You can read the full reason behind our decision below and if you follow us there, please do make sure to follow us on our other platforms because we’d love to stay in touch!
Our X channels will remain active until Tuesday the 1st of April 2025, at which point we will no longer post or maintain them.
At The Met, we’re committed to promoting diversity, inclusion, and sustainability in everything we do. These principles are central to our mission, and we actively work to uphold and promote them.
Over time, it has become increasingly clear that X (formerly Twitter) conflicts with these values. The platform has allowed worrying content that actively works against us and our ideologies. In addition, the shift in conversation on the platform has meant this is no longer a useful tool for us to communicate with our audiences.
After thoughtful consideration, we have made the decision to step away from X because the benefits of being on there are now outweighed by the negatives. We believe it is vital to take a stand against hate, misinformation, and discrimination, and allocate our time and resources to more effective and nurturing communication channels. We have also witnessed a dramatic drop of engagement from X as we see our own followers and audiences come to the same sad conclusion.
While no platform is perfect, we will continue to connect with you via Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, and will keep other potential platforms under review as they arise and evolve. You can also stay up-to-date by signing up for our mailing list.
