Our ever popular Head for the Hills is just around the corner and we can’t wait to welcome you all on site! Our festival is know for being a great day out for all of the family and this year is no different. We have an array of family activities across the two days to keep you and your little ones entertained. From family shows, animal yoga and storytelling – we have it all!

Our Family programme across the two days:

Friday 1 September
Bhangra Dance workshops

Learn the art of vibrant Bhangra dancing – a journey from the traditional to modern day fusion Bhangra beats and dance!

The Giant Balloon Show
The Giant Balloon Show will have the audiences in stitches and in awe simultaneously. Expect feverous balloon sculptures, high energy comic performance and of course the all important giant balloon! Take everything you know about balloons; twist that into a theatrical experience, add an award winning clown and an 80’s soundtrack and you have The Giant Balloon Show!

The School of Curiosity Campfire Tales
Join the fantastical League of Curiosity around the campfire to hear stories of folkloric wonder and mythical magic. And what’s more, in between spinning yarns and telling tales, the League invites you to explore wondrous objects from their one of a kind, totally stupendous Curiosity Cart. Stories and wonder await!

Sohan Kailey – Incredible India Storytelling
Enter into magical worlds of music, dance, interactive storytelling from Enchanted Forests, magical jungles to Golden Palaces and Kingdoms. Join in and immerse yourselves with stories to enthral you, grow your imaginations that take you to faraway places.

Animal-Themed Yoga/Dance
Fun animal-themed yoga and dance sessions for the whole family with The Met’s very own movement expert; Danielle Brady.

The Circus House Workshops
The Circus House will be showcasing their impressive talents with an array of Acrobalance, Tightwire, Trapeze, Aerial Hoop, Silks, Corde Lisse and Juggling. Give it a go yourself under the supervision of one of their expert facilitators. 

Drumming Workshops with Bloco Ashe
Get in the carnival spirit and create some samba grooves with Bury’s community samba band, Bloco Ashê.

Arts and Crafts with Bury Art Museum
Get crafty with Bury Art Museum and make your very own animal masks!

Seed planting with Incredible Edible Brandlesholme
Mindful planting seeds activity for all the family to join in.

 

Saturday 2 September
Falconry Dismay
Showcasing the extraordinary talents of 3 majestic birds of prey guided by their expert handler Kevin Tickle, prepare to belly laugh through the raucous ride that is Falconry Dismay. Anarchic, wild and….educational?

Experience the breath-taking flying displays of these majestic Birds, showcasing their unique behaviours, personalities and flying techniques.

NB – no actual birds will be used in this performance.

Discover the wonderful world of nature at Burrs Park through environmental arts and crafts and interactive family activities.
